Katanga (Student Game) : Level Art - Lighting

Katanga is a video game set in the Belgian Congo, in the 1920's. It was my graduation project at Isart Digital Paris.

This post focuses on level architecture, level art and lighting. I took the warehouses and boat from blocking to polish, but also worked on the laboratory and the villa as a level artist and lighting artist.
I worked closely with amazing people, and I learned a lot about lighting and ambiant storytelling during the project. I had a blast !

The work on all of these areas was a group effort within our small team of artists, and I have to thank very much my talented team :

The underground laboratory of our fictional villain, Baltus Van Kurtz. I helped on both level art and lighting.

Creating storytelling here was very fun : Van Kurtz studies skulls from different primate species.

I did mostly detail propping in the villa. And I added some lights to make the area easier to navigate for the player.

Very fun area to work on, trying to find just the right amount of fog, flames, and embers.
