Katanga (Student Game) : Modular Environments

Katanga is a video game set in the Belgian Congo, in the 1920's. It was my graduation project at Isart Digital Paris.
Here are some of the environment modules created for the game. A lot of modular environments like the boat had very specific constraints (the interior and exterior of the boat had to match perfectly), so I learned a lot about modularity on this project.
Thanks to Vertex Painting and decals we had a way to make our environments not look dull, while keeping modular walls and floors througout the game.

The boat modules made for the corridors.

I loved working on the door asset.

Here is how the vent modules I created connect to the wall modules.

I also did the warehouse modules very early in the project, and the brick texture ended up being used in a lot of areas in the game !

I created the Substance Designer materials, with scalable wear and color, that we later Vertex Painted within Unreal Engine.
